President Tinubu Flags Off Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway Section in Cross River

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday launched construction of Section 3A/3B of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway in Cross River State—a 65km, three-lane dual carriageway forming part of the 750km corridor.

The project, featuring reinforced concrete pavement, is being handled by HITECH Construction Company and is expected to be completed within 36 months.

Speaking at the flag-off in Awi, Akamkpa Local Government Area, Governor Bassey Otu, representing the President, described the highway as a strategic investment poised to stimulate economic growth, create jobs, and strengthen regional integration.

Federal Controller of Works in Cross River, Engr Olayinka Onafuye, said the ministry would ensure strict adherence to standards and specifications throughout the project.

The highway is part of the federal government’s broader infrastructure agenda which it said is aimed at improving mobility and trade across Nigeria’s southern corridor.
