Slain Soldiers’ Children Get FG Scholarships

President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday conferred national honours on 17 members of the Nigerian Army who were killed in Delta State on March 14.

During the burial ceremony of the slain servicemen at the National Military Cemetery in Abuja, the president announced the provision of housing facilities for the surviving family members and scholarships for all their children up to university level.

He also directed the payment of death benefits to the family members within 90 days. The slain soldiers leave behind10 windows, three of whom are 4, 5, and 8 months pregnant, 21 orphans, and many other dependents which include parents.

President Tinubu posthumously conferred the national honour of Member of the Order of the Niger on the slain commissioned officers, and the honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger on the non-commissioned officers.
