Nigeria’s build-up to Thursday’s 2026 FIFA World Cup play-off against Gabon has been disrupted after Super Eagles players and officials boycotted training in Rabat over unpaid allowances and bonuses. The entire squad, including technical staff, reportedly refused to train on Tuesday, demanding settlement of long-standing financial entitlements.
A joint statement from the players confirmed the protest, saying preparations would resume once the dispute is resolved. The development comes just two days before the crucial semi-final tie against Gabon at the Prince Héritier Moulay El Hassan Stadium.

Team morale had been lifted earlier by the arrival of Victor Osimhen, joining 22 others in camp. The Nigeria Football Federation is yet to comment publicly, though discussions are ongoing to end the standoff before Thursday’s match.
