The Supreme Court has overturned rulings by the Court of Appeal and the Federal High Court that removed Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Delivering the lead judgment, Justice Jamilu Tukur ruled that the matter was an internal party affair and not subject to judicial intervention. The court also held that the plaintiff, Aniagu Emmanuel, lacked the legal standing to challenge Anyanwu’s position, having failed to demonstrate any personal impact.

The ruling aligns with a minority judgment at the appellate level, which found the lower court lacked jurisdiction.
Meanwhile, the PDP’s leadership had previously recognised Udeh-Okoye as National Secretary, with Anyanwu facing possible expulsion over alleged anti-party activities.
