ollowing the resignation of the Speaker of the Taraba state House of Assembly Mr. Joseph Kunini in the early hours of today, the house has elected John Bonzena as the new Speaker.
Mr. Bonzena, who is from the Zing state constituency, was elected during an emergency session today. Mr. Kunini’s resignation letter was read by the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Hammanadama Burkunu of Bali 2 State Constituency at the hollow chamber of the house.
Mr. Adama who presided over the emergency sitting called for the nomination of the new Speaker and members unanimously nominated and elected Bonzena as the new Speaker.
Speaking to journalists shortly after the emergency sitting, Mr. Bonzena disclosed that the former speaker voluntarily resigned for personal reasons and promised to do his best to carry everyone along.
