The Ebonyi State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of three children by suspected kidnappers in Abakaliki Local Government Area of the state. The incident happened in the early hours of Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Nkwegu, opposite the Nkwegu Military Cantonment gate.
Police spokesperson, Joshua Ukandu, said the children include one two year old boy and two girls aged four and two. He said the parents reported the abduction to the police, prompting an investigation and rescue operation.

Mr. Ukandu said that as of Sunday, no ransom demand had been made and no arrests recorded. He said officers are continuing investigations and efforts to rescue the children safely, as the incident has heightened concern in the area due to its proximity to a military facility.
