President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has departed Abuja for a three-week vacation in Europe, with London as his first stop. Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, told journalists at the airport the trip would let the President, in his words, “refuel” after six to seven months of intense engagement with state matters, including security and the economy.
Dare said the timing was deliberate, coming as Nigeria enters its 2027 election campaign season, with four to five months of campaigning ahead. He stressed the trip is a working vacation; President Tinubu will continue receiving daily briefings from ministers and service chiefs while away.
