Nollywood actress and director, Toyin Abraham, has announced on her instagram that Alakada: Bad and Boujee, a new movie in the Alakada franchise, will be released in cinemas in December this year.
The film is the fifth instalment in the Alakada franchise. In the 2009 film of the franchise, movie goers were first introduced to Yetunde Animashaun, played by Toyin Abraham, who was raised in poverty, suffered from an inferiority complex, and was not proud of her position in society. To get around with influential people on her school campus, she fabricates a complex tale about her social status and riches.

Movies like Alakada 2, a 2013 release, Alakada Reloaded, released in 2017, and Fate of Alakada in 2020, are also part of the franchise.
Details about the plot for the movie, Alakada: Bad and Boujee, have not been revealed, but film reviewers and critics say the title may hint at the character, Yetunde, potentially embracing a more “boujee” lifestyle.
