Six men, including three of Paul Pogba’s childhood friends and his own brother Mathias, are set to stand trial in Paris from Tuesday, accused of blackmail and attempted extortion. The accused allegedly tried to extort €13 million (around $13.5 million) from the Juventus and France midfielder, holding him at gunpoint during the ordeal. The case has sent shockwaves through the French football community, especially due to the involvement of individuals close to Pogba.
The trial comes amid a turbulent period for the player, who recently had his contract with Juventus cancelled after a suspension for doping, which will keep him out of action until March 2025. The extortion attempt reportedly involved threats and intimidation, adding to the professional struggles Pogba is currently facing.
