Troops Kill ‘Several’ Terrorists, Recover Arms In Sokoto

Troops of 8 Division Garrison Sokoto have killed several terrorists in Tukandu Village, in the North-Western state.

In a statement on yesterday, the Director Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, said troops of the Nigerian Army launched a carefully planned offensive operation, targeting a notorious group of terrorists, responsible for various atrocious and heinous activities in the general area.

Many of the terrorists were killed, while others fled with gunshot wounds, Nwachukwu said.

Recovered from the insurgents were three AK-47 Rifles, one PKT Gun, 125 rounds of 7.62 mm Special ammunition, two Rocket propelled gun bombs and nine motorcycles.

Reacting, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, lauded the troops, charging them to remain resolute and continue to escalate their operations against the terrorists to decimate and deny them the freedom of action.
