Nigerian Army troops have killed eight Boko Haram insurgents following a foiled attack in Izge, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State. The operation, conducted by personnel from the 26 Task Force Brigade under Operation Hadin Kai, took place in the early hours of Wednesday.
The Acting Public Relations Officer of Operation Hadin Kai, Captain Reuben Kovangiya, said the clash lasted several hours before the militants were overpowered. Several others reportedly fled with gunshot wounds.

According to him, the troops recovered motorcycles, ten bicycles, and a PKT machine gun with ammunition belts from the scene.
A separate attempted attack on troops in Malamfatori, near the Nigeria-Niger border, was also repelled. Army authorities say the terrorists suffered heavy losses before retreating across the frontier.
