A police officer and a female passenger were killed on Tuesday when a 40-foot container truck overturned on a tricycle at Ijora Causeway in Lagos. The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, confirmed the incident, saying the vehicle lost control while attempting a dangerous manoeuvre beneath the Ijora Bridge.
Two other victims, including the tricycle operator, were pulled out alive with serious leg injuries and taken to hospital by emergency services. Security operatives swiftly secured the area after angry onlookers tried to set the truck ablaze.

LASTMA’s General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, described the incident as tragic and extended condolences to the bereaved families. He praised the professionalism of emergency teams and urged truck drivers to exercise extreme caution on busy Lagos roads to prevent further accidents of this nature.
