A High Court in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, has sentenced Professor Ignatius Uduk to three years in prison for electoral malpractice.

Uduk, a professor of Human Kinetics at the University of Uyo, was found guilty of falsifying election results during the 2019 State House of Assembly polls. He served as the Collation and Returning Officer for Essien Udim State Constituency.

The court heard that Uduk abandoned his duties, generated false scores on Form EC BE (II), and later announced fabricated results at an INEC office in Afaha Ikot Ebak. He was also convicted of perjury at the Election Petition Tribunal.
