Akwa Ibom Governor Umo Eno dumps PDP for APC

Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno has announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress. Speaking at a press conference in Uyo, the governor said he was joining the ruling party from a position of strength, not weakness.

Eno explained that his decision to join the APC was driven by his desire to fully support President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms. The move follows six weeks after Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori also left the PDP for the APC.

The governor’s switch had been anticipated since April, when he expressed support for Tinubu’s re-election campaign during the launch of a major road project in Akwa Ibom. Eno said his consultations across the state had been completed and that he believed the APC would offer better opportunities for progress.

He assured residents that his administration’s goals would remain aligned with the state’s development, promising to work closely with the APC leadership for the benefit of the people.
