Victor Boniface will feature in Bayer Leverkusen’s matchday squad on Tuesday night as they face Atletico Madrid in the league phase of the 2024-2025 UEFA Champions League.
The 24-year-old Nigerian forward, a key player for the Super Eagles, has been sidelined for nine weeks due to a muscle injury sustained during Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Rwanda.

Initial hopes for an early January return were dashed after a setback in his recovery, forcing him to miss crucial Bundesliga fixtures against Borussia Dortmund, FSV Mainz, and Borussia Mönchengladbach.
However, Boniface participated in full training with his teammates on Monday, travelling with the squad to Madrid. His inclusion raises hopes of a triumphant return against the formidable La Liga outfit.
