The World Bank says it is partnering with the Nigerian government to roll out a nationwide digital broadband access programme. The announcement was made in Abuja during a courtesy visit to President Bola Tinubu by senior World Bank officials, led by Anshula Kant, the organisation’s managing director and chief financial officer.
Kant said digital connectivity is one of the largest upcoming projects under the bank’s support to Nigeria. She added that the institution is also working with the country on initiatives in agribusiness, energy, education, health, and social protection.

She stressed that access to energy, digital services, and quality education are key to achieving sustainable growth.
Kant also commended the Tinubu administration for implementing macroeconomic reforms, saying early results of those policies are already visible. The meeting was attended by top Nigerian officials including the ministers of finance and digital economy, as well as the president’s chief of staff.
