Bodies of Missing South African Journalist and Partner Found, Five People Arrested

South African police have discovered human remains believed to be those of missing journalist Sibusiso Aserie Ndlovu and his partner, Zodwa Precious Mdhluli. The couple, who had been missing since 18 February, were found in an advanced stage of decomposition in northern Limpopo province.

Authorities say five suspects have been arrested in connection with the case. They were reportedly found with stolen furniture, appliances, and car parts belonging to the couple. Ndlovu was the founder of Capital Live, a community radio station based in Pretoria.

The African Media and Communicators Forum and the National Press Club say forensic teams have identified the remains as those of the missing couple. AMCF Chairperson Elijah Mhlanga expressed shock and sadness, saying they had hoped the pair would still be found alive.

South Africa continues to grapple with high levels of violent crime. Official statistics show more than 26,000 murders were recorded in 2024, an average of 72 per day.
