Former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has criticised the administration of President Bola Tinubu, claiming that a recent poll shows 91% of Nigerians disapprove of the government.
Speaking in an interview monitored by RadioNow’s news desk, El-Rufai said the Tinubu administration has failed Nigerians, with poor economic performance, insecurity, and lack of clear policies.

He claimed that 100 billion naira is deducted monthly from the federation account for security, yet there’s no improvement.
Citing a recent report, he alleged that over 2.2 million Nigerians were abducted and more than 600,000 killed in 2024. He also said many projects recently commissioned by the president in Kaduna were completed during his own time as governor.
El-Rufai called for a united opposition and said a new political party may be difficult to register under the current INEC leadership. He described the Social Democratic Party, SDP, as the best platform for an opposition coalition.
Although he did not confirm any political ambition for 2027, El-Rufai said Nigerians deserve better leadership. He urged citizens to reflect on whether their lives had improved since Tinubu took office.
