The Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, says most of the projects commissioned by his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, have not been fully paid for.
Speaking on Tuesday during the commissioning of the Aleto-Ogale-Ebubu-Eteo road in Eleme LGA of Rivers, the governor highlighted the importance of the road.
Gov. Fubara further said contractors who executed projects commissioned by Wike’s administration have started to request their balance payments.
Using the road project as an example, Governor Fubara said it was awarded at the cost of N6.7 billion, and his administration has paid the contractor completely. He also said if there is one problem his administration has, it is debt.

On Monday, he said a judicial panel of inquiry would be set up to investigate the management of the state’s resources and affairs under past administrations.
Since 2023, Governor Fubara and Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, have been at odds over the political control of the state.
The rift has led to the polarisation of the Rivers state house of assembly.
