The Ebonyi State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has uncovered a suspected illegal petroleum refinery in Abakaliki, impounding a tanker carrying 45,000 liters of unrefined petroleum believed to be stolen.
The NSCDC State Commandant, Francis Nnadi, announced the operation at a press briefing in Abakaliki, confirming that four suspects were arrested in connection with the illicit transportation of the product from Cross River to Ebonyi.
Nnadi stated that the command, acting on credible intelligence, tracked the truck Saturday night, sealing the premises allegedly used for the illegal refining operation. He described the act as economic sabotage, pledging a thorough investigation.
The seized product will undergo laboratory testing, and the suspects are expected to face court proceedings once the investigation is complete.
