Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has ordered an immediate freeze on all bank accounts belonging to the state government.
The directive, issued through Chief Press Secretary Fred Itua on Thursday, requires all commercial banks and government agencies to halt any transactions from government accounts until further notice, warning of severe consequences for non-compliance.
Governor Okpebholo also instructed agencies to revert the name of the Ministry of Roads and Bridges back to the Ministry of Works, reversing a change made under former Governor Godwin Obaseki’s administration.
The directives are part of Okpebholo’s early actions to re-establish oversight and structural changes within the state government.
