Israel has committed war crimes and crimes against humanity through the mass displacement of Palestinians in Gaza, according to a report by Human Rights Watch (HRW). The report claims Israel’s actions amount to “forcible transfer” and are “systematic” within a broader state policy. HRW further suggests these actions align with what it describes as “ethnic cleansing.”
The United Nations reports nearly 1.9 million Gazans—around 90% of the population—have been forced from their homes, with 79% of the territory now under Israeli evacuation orders.
Israel rejected HRW’s claims. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Oren Marmorstein described the report as “completely false” on social media, saying Israel’s actions target Hamas’s militant capabilities and are not aimed at civilians in Gaza.
