Israeli strikes have killed at least six Palestinians, including two children, in Gaza, as mediators push efforts to advance a new ceasefire plan. Palestinian health officials said the victims were killed in separate attacks on Thursday, while the Israeli military said it targeted Hamas militants.
Meanwhile, mediators from Egypt, Qatar and Turkey held talks with Hamas on the second phase of a U.S.-backed plan to end the conflict. The proposal calls for Hamas and other armed groups to disarm, the withdrawal of Israeli forces, increased humanitarian aid and the establishment of a civilian Palestinian administration backed by an international security force. But major differences remain.
Hamas has demanded an Israeli withdrawal before disarmament, while Israel has insisted on complete demilitarisation. The negotiations remain fragile despite the latest diplomatic push.
