Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has formally rejected President Trump’s 15-point plan for Gaza, declaring Israeli forces will not withdraw from the territory until Hamas is completely disarmed.
“Israel rejects the 15-point document,” Netanyahu told his cabinet on Sunday, insisting that it includes “heavy weaponry, lighter weaponry, all weaponry.” The rejection comes despite Trump announcing what he called a breakthrough agreement last month, under which Hamas would surrender arms to a new Palestinian governing body as Israeli troops withdraw in tandem. Netanyahu, facing re-election in October, said Israel remains in talks with Washington, adding: “They have ideas, some of which are acceptable to us and some are not.”
Separately, Saudi Arabia says firefighters extinguished a fire at Aramco’s Jazan refinery early Sunday, with no injuries reported. Yemen’s Houthi rebels claimed responsibility, saying they struck the facility with a precision drone strike. The refinery, which processes 400,000 barrels of crude daily, had already been shut since a previous Houthi attack on July 27 damaged part of its gasification complex.
