The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested 523 suspected criminals and rescued 102 kidnapped victims within one month, according to Ibrahim Abdullahi, the state’s police commissioner. During a press briefing on Monday, Abdullahi disclosed that those arrested include 26 suspected kidnappers, 12 cattle rustlers, 97 phone snatchers, and 17 car snatchers, among others.
Recovered items include five AK-47 rifles, two pistols, a submachine gun, 105 rounds of live ammunition, 283 rustled cows, and 20 sheep. The commissioner emphasised that these achievements reflect the police command’s intensified operations against criminal activities under his leadership.
In a notable operation on November 24, police responded to a distress call in Idasu village, Giwa LGA, where bandits attempted to kidnap farmers harvesting beans. A combined team of mobile and conventional officers engaged the bandits in a gun battle, successfully rescuing 89 victims.
