Six farmers have been killed by suspected bandits in Kujijiro farmlands in the Kuyello District of Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The victims were attacked on Monday while working on their farms, according to the Birnin Gwari Emirate Progressives Union, BEPU, which described the incident as tragic and disturbing.
In a statement, BEPU Chairman, Dr Isah Muhammad, said the killings had deepened fear and grief in the area, adding that repeated attacks in Kuyello and surrounding communities continue despite ongoing security efforts.
The group urged the Federal Government, the Kaduna State Government and security agencies to intensify operations in the area, warning that continued attacks could disrupt farming activities, worsen food insecurity and heighten economic hardship.
