The Federal High Court in Abuja has struck out a suit seeking to restrain the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from arresting Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu after his tenure. The case was dismissed on October 31 following a motion by Gbenga Femi Akande, Sanwo-Olu’s counsel, to discontinue the matter.

On Tuesday, EFCC counsel Hadiza Afegbua appeared in court expecting the case to be heard but was surprised to learn it had already been struck out. The enrolled order dated October 31 revealed that only Sanwo-Olu’s lawyer was present during the proceedings.

The suit’s dismissal brings an end to the legal effort to prevent the anti-graft agency from investigating or arresting the Lagos governor post-tenure.
