Nigeria’s Super Eagles have dropped eight places to 44th in the latest FIFA rankings released on Thursday, marking the most significant decline globally. The three-time African champions are now ranked 5th in Africa, behind Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, and Algeria, with their total points reduced from 1503 to 1482.23.
The drop follows disappointing performances during the recent international window, where the Super Eagles lost 1-2 to Rwanda at home in Uyo and managed only a 1-1 draw against Benin Republic in the final phase of the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 qualifiers.
