The Football Association is set to withdraw its support for FIFA President Gianni Infantino following the collapse of his proposal to sell stakes in FIFA competitions to private investors.
The move comes after strong opposition from UEFA and several national football associations, which argued the plan lacked transparency and threatened the independence of the global game.
UEFA has also warned it could pursue legal action over the proposal. The controversy has already led to the resignation of Carlos Cordeiro as senior adviser to the FIFA president.
The abandoned investment plan had aimed to attract private capital into FIFA competitions but faced criticism over governance and consultation.
