The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has suspended aid deliveries into Gaza via the Karem Abu Salem crossing, citing security risks. Philippe Lazzarini, UNRWA’s chief, announced the halt on X, highlighting the dangerous conditions on Gaza’s aid routes. He revealed that armed gangs recently stole a large aid convoy, intensifying concerns over safety.
Mr. Lazzarini condemned the challenges faced by humanitarian workers, including Israel’s ongoing siege, restrictions on aid, and targeting of aid convoys, urging Israel to allow unrestricted humanitarian access and refrain from attacks on aid personnel.

Since October, Israel has blocked essential supplies, including food and medicine, into Gaza as part of its military operations. UNRWA reported that out of 91 attempts to deliver aid to northern Gaza between October 6 and November 25, 82 were denied, while 9 were obstructed.
