An Allied Air Cargo aircraft suffered a tyre burst on Wednesday, skidding off Runway 22 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. The plane, with registration number 5N-JRT, had five passengers on board, who were rescued and taken to the hospital for medical attention.
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) confirmed the incident in a statement, explaining that the runway has been temporarily shut down to facilitate clearance and safety checks. Significant disruptions have been reported, with several departures delayed as authorities work to restore normal operations.

FAAN’s spokesperson, Obiageli Orah, expressed gratitude to the aviation community and the general public for their patience and understanding during the incident.
