The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has called on Amnesty International to retract its report on the alleged killing of #EndBadGovernance protesters, describing it as “inaccurate and misleading.” Force spokesperson Muyiwa Adejobi made this statement during a media briefing on Sunday.
Adejobi said the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) had constituted a special investigation panel to examine the claims made by Amnesty International. He explained that the panel visited the affected states, reviewed reports from commissioners of police, and based its findings on the evidence gathered.

He denied allegations that police officers killed three individuals—Nasiru Mustapha, Amodu Garba Maina, and Momodu Hassan, staff of Kime and Sons filling station—with a hand grenade. Adejobi stated that the findings of the investigative panel formed the basis of his briefing.
Amnesty International’s report, titled ‘Bloody August: Nigerian government’s violent crackdown on #EndBadGovernance protests’, alleged that 24 protesters were killed and 1,200 arrested during the August 2024 protests. The police force has dismissed the report as unsubstantiated.
