A ceasefire agreement and a potential deal for the release of hostages remain out of reach following more than eight hours of negotiations in Qatar on Tuesday.

According to Reuters, a senior Hamas official disclosed that the group is awaiting documentation from Israel outlining specifics of the areas from which Israeli forces would withdraw during the ceasefire.

The proposed withdrawal reportedly includes the Netzarim area in central Gaza, enabling displaced residents to return to their homes in Jabalia, northern Gaza, and regions along the Philadelphi Road near Egypt’s border, including Rafah.

Qatari foreign ministry spokesperson Majed Al-Ansari, addressing a press briefing early Tuesday, stated that both sides had been presented with a draft text and were engaged in discussions to finalise the details.

Further developments are awaited as the international community watches closely.
