The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arraigned a former Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme, NHIS, Usman Yusuf, on a five-count charge of alleged fraud. He appeared before Justice Chinyere Nwecheonwu at the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Kuje, Abuja.

Yusuf pleaded not guilty to the charges, which include using his office for personal gain and awarding contracts without due process between 2016 and 2017. His counsel requested that he remain in EFCC custody, but the judge ruled that he be remanded at Kuje Correctional Centre.
Justice Nwecheonwu adjourned the case to February 12, 2025, for the hearing of Yusuf’s bail application.
