The Coalition of United Political Parties, CUPP, has praised the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for the timely release of the Rivers State voters’ register ahead of local government elections scheduled for 9 August 2025.
A statement issued on Sunday by CUPP’s national spokesperson, Mark Adebayo, described the move as a positive step towards ensuring transparency in the electoral process.

The release follows a formal request from the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RISIEC), made in a letter dated 3 March and signed by its chairman, Justice Adolphus Enebeli. In response, INEC, in a letter dated 13 March and signed by its secretary, Rose Oriaran-Anthony, approved the request and instructed RISIEC to collect the soft copy of the register, along with an updated list of registered political parties, from its Rivers State office.
