Sensitive election materials have arrived in Osogbo ahead of Saturday’s Osun governorship election, INEC has confirmed.
The commission’s spokesperson, Adedayo Oketola, says over 25,000 security personnel — from the police, Civil Defence Corps and EFCC — have been deployed statewide, alongside soldiers now guarding INEC’s Osogbo headquarters with armoured vehicles. Ballot papers remain secured at the Central Bank, moving to local governments on Friday.
Oketola confirmed 2.3 million voters registered ahead of the election and over 30,000 NYSC members available for ad-hoc duty. The Inter-Party Advisory Council has urged all sides to lower political tensions ahead of polling day.
