Israeli airstrikes kill at least 23 in Gaza as evacuation orders widen

Israeli airstrikes across the Gaza Strip have killed at least 23 people, according to local health officials, as the military widened evacuation orders affecting tens of thousands of residents.

The bombardment follows the resumption of Israel’s military offensive against Hamas last week, ending a two-month ceasefire. Palestinian health officials report that nearly 700 people, mostly women and children, have been killed since hostilities resumed.

The conflict has already displaced much of Gaza’s 2.3 million population, many forced to flee multiple times over nearly 18 months of Israeli attacks. Aid shortages have worsened after Israel suspended humanitarian deliveries earlier this month.

On Tuesday, the Israeli army ordered residents of all northern border towns to evacuate, citing Palestinian rocket fire. The affected areas include Jabalia, Beit Lahiya, Beit Hanoun, and Shejaia in Gaza City, with similar orders issued for parts of Khan Younis and Rafah in the south.
