Nigeria’s anti-corruption agency has launched an investigation after foreign currencies worth over $86,000 were intercepted at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, said its Kano Zonal Directorate is examining the origins of $86,500, €200, and 305,150 Saudi Riyals discovered in an unaccompanied bag on Sunday, 27 April. Â

The Nigeria Customs Service reportedly seized the bag as a clearing agent attempted to retrieve it. The money was formally handed over by Customs Chief Superintendent Abdulahi Hashim to the EFCC’s Assistant Commander Aminu Bashir.
Officials say both the seized funds and individuals linked to the case remain in custody. Prosecution will follow once investigations are concluded.
