Mr Adefowora Abiodun, one of six individuals declared wanted by Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, over an alleged $1 billion cryptocurrency fraud, has voluntarily turned himself in.
Mr Abiodun, linked to the Crypto Bridge Exchange platform, surrendered at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja on Monday, accompanied by his legal team. His lawyer, Babatunde Busari, said the move was intended to demonstrate his client’s willingness to cooperate with investigators and to challenge what he described as a ‘false media narrative.’

Last week, Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja authorised the detention of Abiodun and five associates; Adefowora Oluwanisola, Emmanuel Uko, Seyi Oloyede, Avwerosuo Otorudo, and Chukwuebuka Ehirim, pending further investigation.
The EFCC accuses the group of promoting a fraudulent investment scheme through CBEX, which reportedly defrauded investors of more than $1 billion. Investigations into the case remain ongoing.
