Ex-NANS Leader Accuses Seyi Tinubu of Interfering in Student Politics

A former Senate President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Henry Okunomo, has accused Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, of interfering in the affairs of the student body.

Speaking in an interview monitored by RadioNow’s news desk, Okunomo claimed Seyi’s involvement has made NANS “porous” and diverted it from its core purpose of advocating for student welfare.

He questioned Seyi’s stake in the association, noting that he neither served in NANS nor studied in a Nigerian institution—criteria required to be considered a stakeholder. Okunomo also alleged that Seyi is using his influence to intimidate members and weaken the organisation’s independence.

These claims come after the newly elected NANS president, Comrade Atiku Abubakar Isah, alleged that Seyi disrupted his inauguration in Abuja, locking down the venue and threatening him.

Seyi Tinubu has denied the accusations, calling them “fake news” and defamatory in an Instagram post.
