Indirect talks between Israel and Hamas entered a second day in Doha on Monday, as negotiators seek progress on a potential ceasefire and hostage exchange deal in Gaza.
The negotiations, mediated by Qatar and Egypt, come ahead of a scheduled meeting in Washington between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump.
The US leader has indicated a breakthrough could emerge this week. Prime Minister Netanyahu, before departing Tel Aviv, said Israeli negotiators had been instructed to pursue a deal under terms already accepted by Israel.

Of the 251 hostages taken during the October 2023 attack, 49 remain in Gaza—27 of whom are believed dead.
Observers say Prime Minister Netanyahu is under pressure to align with Trump’s agenda while also managing divisions within his cabinet over troop redeployment and humanitarian aid in Gaza.
