The Independent National Electoral Commission in Sokoto says security concerns in identified flashpoints have been addressed ahead of the Continuous Voter Registration exercise.
Resident Electoral Commissioner Umar Garba told journalists that arrangements had been concluded with security agencies to ensure safety across all 23 local government areas. He stressed that the process would be hitch-free, beginning with physical registration on 25 August at INEC offices in the state.

The exercise, which runs weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., targets new voters aged 18, those requiring transfers, replacements, or corrections, and individuals whose details are missing from the biometric register.
Garba cautioned against multiple registrations, warning of legal consequences, and appealed to political parties, traditional rulers, civil groups and the media to mobilise citizens. He also urged eligible voters to collect their outstanding Permanent Voter Cards in person.
