The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG, has declared Senator Adams Oshiomhole unwelcome within its ranks, following his criticism of the recent strike by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, PENGASSAN.
The union accused the former Nigeria Labour Congress President of betraying long-held labour principles by defending the alleged victimisation of workers who exercised their right to protest. Senator Oshiomhole had described the strike against Dangote Refinery as ill-judged, urging unions to allow new investors time to stabilise.

In a statement signed by its President, Williams Akporeha, and General Secretary, Olawale Afolabi, NUPENG said Senator Oshiomhole had, in his own words, ‘lost moral legitimacy’ among oil and gas workers, adding that it would no longer recognise or participate in any event involving him.
