Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has expressed deep sympathy to the government and people of Niger State following the tragic petrol tanker explosion along the Bida–Agaie highway that has claimed at least 42 lives and left more than 60 injured.
In a statement by his media aide, Gboyega Akosile, Governor Sanwo-Olu, who also chairs the South-West Governors Forum, described the incident as “worrisome and deeply saddening,” extending condolences to Governor Mohammed Bago and the bereaved families.

He prayed for the repose of the deceased and quick recovery for the injured, urging divine comfort for those affected. According to the National Emergency Management Agency, the tanker lost control on the damaged road between 11 a.m. and noon before overturning and exploding, engulfing nearby vehicles and residents in flames.
