The UN Special Rapporteur on human rights in the occupied Palestinian territory, Francesca Albanese, has accused Israel’s allies of enabling what she described as genocide in Gaza. In a new report, she said the atrocities were facilitated through Third States’ direct support, material aid and diplomatic protection.
Albanese noted that Israel’s military campaign has been sustained by political and economic backing from powerful nations that refuse to hold it accountable. She described the Gaza crisis as “an internationally enabled crime.”

Following the Hamas attacks of October 7, she said many Western leaders echoed Israeli narratives and muted global outrage. Citing examples, she referenced former US President Joe Biden’s reliance on false reports and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s defence of cutting essential supplies to Gaza’s civilians.
