Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have repelled coordinated overnight attacks by Boko Haram and Islamic State of West Africa Province fighters on several military bases in Borno and Yobe States. The Defence Headquarters said the insurgents launched simultaneous assaults on locations in Dikwa, Mafa, Gajibo, and Katarko between midnight and 4 a.m. on Thursday.
Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Officer of the Joint Task Force, said the troops fought gallantly, killing over 50 terrorists and forcing many others to flee with injuries. He confirmed that several weapons, including 38 AK-47 rifles, seven PKT machine guns, and thousands of rounds of ammunition, were recovered from the attackers.

Air strikes from the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai reportedly provided cover for ground forces, using intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance systems to target insurgent positions. Some soldiers sustained injuries during the encounters but were said to be in stable condition.
Lieutenant Colonel Uba added that a few buildings and vehicles were destroyed by insurgent drone and rocket attacks, particularly in Dikwa and Mafa. The Defence Headquarters commended the troops’ bravery, saying their performance demonstrates the military’s commitment to defending Nigeria’s territorial integrity.
