Former Fenerbahçe forward and Turkish international Serhat Akın has described Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen as the greatest striker ever to feature in the Turkish Super Lig. Akın, who won three league titles with Fenerbahçe, said Osimhen’s all-round ability and consistency set him apart from other top forwards.
The 26-year-old Nigerian inspired Galatasaray to a league and cup double last season, delivering 45 goal involvements in 41 appearances while on loan from Napoli. His permanent €75 million transfer this summer became the most expensive deal in Turkish football history.

Osimhen has already scored six goals this term, including strikes against Liverpool and Bodø/Glimt, and set two new Champions League records for Galatasaray. His remarkable form has also earned him a nomination for the 2025 African Footballer of the Year award.
