Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has described Nigeria’s failure to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup as “bad”. He said the team’s absence from the tournament is disappointing for both players and fans.
Nigeria missed out on the competition after losing the World Cup playoff to the Democratic Republic of Congo. The 2026 World Cup, which kicked off last week, features several African teams, including the Ivory Coast, Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, Cape Verde, DR Congo, Tunisia, South Africa and Algeria.
Speaking during a social media livestream, Osimhen said the setback was difficult to accept, noting that the team had now missed out on back-to-back World Cups. He added that the players must move on and focus on future challenges.
