The family of Senator Okey Ezea has announced his death in Lagos following a brief illness. The Senator, who represented Enugu North Senatorial District in the 10th Senate, died at a private hospital at about 11.07 p.m. on Tuesday, 18 November 2025.
Senator Ezea served as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions at the start of the 10th Senate and later held other key roles, including Vice Chairman of the Committees on Housing and Urban Development, Cooperation and Integration in Africa and NEPAD, and Culture and Creative Economy. He was known for sponsoring several motions, including one calling for a military base in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State.
Before winning the Enugu North Senate seat in 2023 under the Labour Party, Senator Ezea was a founding member of the APC in Enugu State and a three-time governorship contender. He also previously served as Chairman of the Federal Medical Centre in Jalingo, Taraba State. He remained the only federal lawmaker from Enugu State elected on the Labour Party platform in 2023.

Senator Ezea is survived by his wife, Chioma, and four children. The family has requested prayers and support during this period of mourning.
