Three people have been confirmed dead following a tanker fire at the Ugwu Onyeama axis of the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway in Enugu State.
The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Monday, 22 June, involved a Dangote truck carrying bags of cement and a tanker transporting liquefied natural gas.
The Federal Fire Service in Enugu said the collision was caused by brake failure, with the cement truck reportedly ramming into the LNG tanker, leading to a leak and subsequent fire outbreak.
Officials confirmed that several people were injured in the incident, while property estimated at about ₦900 million was destroyed, although swift response by fire services and soldiers helped salvage assets worth about ₦800 million.
